About me

Hello! Thank you for being here. I have always dreaded introductions, but since you have landed here (by choice, I hope?), I will try to paint a word picture of myself.

I am Tanvi and I live in Bangalore, India. Although my name is short and easy to pronounce, you may sometimes hear people call me Tanu, Tanz, and, against my wishes, Tanwa.

I am a technical writer by profession. I studied Psychology, Sociology, and English in university with the intention of becoming a professor and academic, but I guess life had other plans for me and I transitioned into the world of tech instead. Technical writing has been a fulfilling career so far and I am grateful that I work at a job I like.

I write outside of work too. I mostly write narrative non-fiction blogs on whatever limited experience I’ve had with life. I’ve also dabbled with poetry, research papers, and short stories. A lot of what I write is fragmented, incomplete, and tucked away in journals or Google docs. I hope to use this personal blog to become more serious about writing and publish more of what I’ve written.

Apart from writing, I also enjoy reading. I try to be open with the kind of books I read, but I’ve realised that the books I enjoy most are usually contemporary and historical fiction, mysteries, family dramas, and anything that is touchy-feely (What? I am a girl after all). I rarely watch movies or TV shows, so I prefer unwinding with a book instead.

I love long walks. I don’t live in a very walkable city, but I don’t mind walking even if it is sunny or dusty outside. I struggle to meditate, so walking is kind of like meditation for me. I walk whenever I feel lost or overwhelmed, and it helps all the time. I like exercising as well. For me, working out is more of a mental activity than a physical one, so I work out based on how I feel on a particular day – it can be HIIT, cardio, pilates, yoga, dance, or just some basic stretching and a long walk.

Those who know me know that I am fascinated by Indian culture, traditions, and scriptures. I love visiting temples and archaeological sites and learning about the divinity and history of these places. I would like to travel to as many places in my country as possible in my lifetime.

Okay, I think I’m done. If you’ve read all the way till here, thank you. The fact that you decided to read about this random stranger on the internet is humbling. I would love to get to know you too, so please do get in touch. You can connect with me on LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/tanvi-td or write to me at tanvi@tanvidesai.me.

Oh wait, before you leave, did I tell you that I absolutely love watching the sunset? I’m pretty sure you do too, so I will leave you with a picture of a sunset that I captured:

Okay, I promise that’s it. See you around. πŸ™‚
